This is how I feel like lately: things piled up on top of each other, but somehow balancing it all while cruising around with big smile on.
curious brain, which is pretty much a third child, is going on very intensely. Family, life, business, and me. While I daydream about sleeping in (like until 11am! just in time for hot brewed coffee and yogurt, all prepared NOT by me. ), I’m also so grateful we are in a spot where we both dreamed of. It’s crazy but working so closely with Kenny, my husband, is a lot of fun.

A few days before Jinu turned 4, we hung out at our recent favorite spot in Staten Island.
(There are so many neat little beaches, state parks, playground all over the place!! who knew?)
Looking at this picture, I realize they’ve become such buddies.
The day Ava arrived at home, it was love at first sight.

“Baby feel better” It’s classic Jinu; pure and loving.
Now that he’s 4 and she’s 20-month old, there are a lot of crying over typical stuff: “SHE’S TOUCHING MY TRAINSSSSSS!”, “Eeeeee!” (at Jinu grabbing her toys). But at the end, she’s his the most captivated audience (other than us and grandparents!) at all his jokes and dances. They exchange such loving hugs and kisses when Jinu gets picked up from school or come home. The first thing Jinu wants to do in the morning is to say morning to Ava and give a kiss on her head.
All these things are such magic to witness for Kenny and I. I’m an only child and Kenny’s sister is 5 years younger. So these sweet brother & sister moments often leave us teary eyed.
When we were in the Berkshire visiting Nana and Pa, they shared the room during our visit. I was nervous about them waking each other up. They did, but they also LOVED being in the same room. So I’m currently in the middle of turning our library into their room. It’s going VERY slowly. After work and putting them to sleep, there is only so much energy left. But I can’t wait to share. Hopefully, I can get it all done in two weeks.
Leaves are falling.
Business is growing slowly.
Kids are growing so fast.
4th birthday. 2nd birthday in about 5 months.
Life as family is good.
Life as a married couple is good.
I like being me.
It’s been so busy that after we put kids to sleep, there was just no time to blog.
But seeing how I don’t really keep a diary anymore, I should make some more effort.
Oh, www.curiousbrain.net is the business my husband and I have started. If you have iPhone, you should check it out.
Goofing around during lunch at a local diner yesterday, after our visit to Prospect Park zoo.

I’ve been busy. But I try to have one-on-one time with each kids all the time.
Ava’s growing so fast.. I’m lucky I’m able to work for myself and see them much.
Ava can now say :
cheese, one, two, three, various animal sound, cow, mine (haha), no (ha ha ha!), runs, tries to jump, mad dance moves, sings(!!)..
I’m so in love.
I go through phases. Totally intensely in decorating mood.. then nothing. Life is too busy to care. Then I really care. I’ve been looking for right media center for living room and credenza/sideboard by the dining area. We have an open layout between dining room / living room. While keeping things eclectic, sparse, I also want to make it inviting, warm and kids friendly.
I’m thinking white credenza in dining area. There IS one piece of furniture I’ve been lusting after. But just too $$ for now.
For living room area, I didn’t even know what to do.. Then I saw this on craigslist!

Only $350! and 60″! sliding doors! Steel!
I’m checking it out over the weekend. Hope it is as awesome as it looks.

My love of my LIFE! Whenever life throws you in whirlwind of things and I need a little pick-me-up to get my mojo back, I look at my family pictures. Ah.. happy.
Are we already inching towards the end of July? Where does the time go? How come it goes so fast?
Feel like I’ve been working around the clock this year. I’m trying to bring more balance into my life: more fun/quick art projects, more family time, more appreciating daily life…
I’ve been up to these:
- ceramics class is going well, i have a few more left. can’t wait to post some photos
- our product is live and it’s been top 10 in Music category in App store since our launch on 6/30. been working on the updates for the app and new products.
- going to Portugal with my pal Jessica in September! First real alone trip since… will miss K + kids.. but am soooo excited!
- been cooking a lot. but too busy, too hungry, too crazy around dinner time for any photos! (very looking forward to watch Julie & Julia)
Anyway… a lot of things happening this Summer for our little family. Will need to document so I can remember!

My mom had her first art opening last night. She was a part of a group show titled “Soul Ideology”, curated by/at Korean Cultural Center Gallery.
Her pieces are top two.
It was really great to see her work as a center piece for the show.
When I was growing up, it was pretty much me + mom. Being almost like a single mom, she managed to raised me, provided me with such rich childhood, and pursued her career as an artist/teacher in Korean traditional textiles. Surround by beautiful linens, silks, colors, dizzying patterns, she was the coolest chic. Whenever we had a writing assignment on “who is your hero?”, I really couldn’t think of a better person.
Since moving to the States, she just didn’t have the right support/courage to pursue American audience/gallery scene. There was a brief period when she was working with a wonderful guy, but she was too anxious and was having hard time trusting strangers other than the family members or close friends.
But that’s all in the past. Here we are. She’s in her early 60s and she’s starting to get recognition that she truly deserves. I’m SOO proud of and LOVE her.
The show is up until 7/21. If you are in UES, please go check it out!
Exhibition: Soul Idéologie
July 1-24
Gallery Korea of the Korean Cultural Service NY
Opening Reception : Wednesday, July 1, 6-8pm
The participating artists, Lee Kyu Hwan, Jung Yul Park, Giustina Surbone, Lorene Taurerewa, Kim Tae Soon, and Chung Shil Shim, were selected by Gallery Korea’s ‘Call for Artists 2009’. Drawn from human figures and figurative motifs found around themselves, six contemporary artists explore human condition and psychology, tradition and modernity. Various expressions of figurative forms deliver the theme of mind, soul and spirit.

Not any more in NYC. Thank GOD!!!
Kids didn’t have proper rain gear for the current size. And I just couldn’t make up my mind for the longest time! It’s too late now, but I guess now I’ll have to WANT the rain to come to enjoy the new stuff.
For me/Kenny, I’m looking for that just right rain trench coats…
